Responding to David Cameron's statements on the EU Budget, Labour's Shadow Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, said:
"This is the worst kind of spin. We've still got the same 2.9 per cent increase that other countries agreed in August.
"David Cameron's grandstanding has achieved absolutely nothing and left Britain with a bad deal. The prime minister should have got this sorted out months ago by working with other countries and proposing practical measures to get the Budget down.
"Now is not the time to be increasing the EU Budget -- that's why Labour voted against any increase from the beginning."
