Yvette Cooper MP, Labour's Shadow Foreign Secretary, in response to the collapse of Lebanon's government, said:
"The international community must show swift and strong support for a peaceful resolution to this political collapse, reiterating Lebanon's place as a key part of the Middle East.
"It is important that the Special Tribunal process is supported and it is allowed to complete its work. Attempts to disrupt or destroy justice cannot be allowed to succeed.
"Lebanon's people have shown remarkable resilience throughout their country's history, but their representatives should not take that for granted nor should they deliberately provoke a crisis."
