John Woodcock MP, Labour’s Transport Roads Shadow Minister, responding to news that ministers have shelved plans for rural fuel discount in the budget, said:
“This latest shambles is more evidence that the Conservative-led government has lost the plot on fuel prices.
“Hard-pressed motorists will be dismayed by the sight of ministers running around like headless chickens when they are the ones who have just imposed a VAT hike hitting everyone at the pump.
“People want genuine action to lower prices. Labour argued against the rise in VAT on fuel which has hit family budgets and small businesses hard.”<div>
