Caroline Flint MP, Labour's Shadow Local Government Secretary, responding to warnings from the Citizens Advice Bureau that it may have to close some of its offices as a result of cuts to local authority funding, said:

"The Citizens Advice Bureau plays a hugely important role and helps millions of people every year.

"It is very worrying that as a result of the Tory-led Government's decision to hit local councils with frontloaded cuts that are too deep and too fast some CAB offices are in danger of closure.

"For all their talk of creating a Big Society, the Tory-led Government's reckless cuts are putting at risk thousands of voluntary and community groups who rely on local authority funds to survive."
