John Denham MP, Labour's Shadow Business Secretary, responding to Vince Cable's claims today on tuition fees, said: 

"Cable should come clean and admit that the new university access rules have no teeth. 

"He is implying that top universities like Oxford and Cambridge will be the last to charge £9,000 when everybody knows that they will in fact be charging this from the very beginning. It's about time that the Tory-led government came clean and admitted the true impact of the rise in tuition fees."
