John Woodcock MP, Labour’s Shadow Roads Minister, responding to the AA/Populus poll of almost 15,000 drivers which highlights the increasing problem of potholes on UK roads, said:

"Road users are in dire need of extra help for potholes after the last winter, but George Osborne is giving with one hand and taking with the other. The recycled money in the Budget for road maintenance doesn't come close to plugging the hole left by a £432 million cut to the repair budget over the next three years.

"With VAT on fuel meaning the price at the pump is up 3p a litre and the Budget con of just a penny off the duty, the Tory-led government really has declared war on motorists.”
