The Labour Party’s first Party Election Broadcast of the local election campaign will be shown this evening.

The broadcast is a profile of Labour’s Leader, Ed Miliband MP, and focuses on his determination to change the way we do politics.

Ed Miliband says in the election broadcast:

“Westminster is not the real world ... all that has got to change. Partly I’d change it by making sure that I get out and talk to people around the country about their lives and their experiences. That is the most important things, it is where I learn the most about what matters.

“You see, there are so many things about our country that are fantastic, we have just heroic people all round the country who are doing extraordinary things and that is the thing I feel most privileged about to be do ing this job, is to be meeting those people ... People and their stories are the things that actually inform what I want to do for the country.”

Ed Miliband also tells the story of his father, serving in the Royal Navy during the Second World War and then studying at night school while he was working as a removal man in his day job.

The film includes footage shot across the country including in Birmingham, Sheffield and in Ed Miliband’s Doncaster North constituency.
