Mary Creagh MP, Labour’s Shadow Environment Secretary, commenting on the Government’s plans to change refuse laws, said:

“The Tory-led Government are all over the place on waste and recycling.

“Despite announcing a major waste review last summer we are still waiting for them to publish anything. The reality is that councils will struggle to improve waste services following the scale of the cuts imposed on them this year.

“The Tories have abandoned any hope of achieving a zero waste Britain. They have nothing positive to say about working with local authorities to improve recycling and cut the amount of rubbish going to landfill.”
