Liam Byrne MP, Labour's Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, responding to today's OECD report which warned that child poverty is set to rise thanks to the Tory-led Government's policies, said:
"Labour lifted over half a million children out of poverty. But sadly it looks like this progress is being reversed.
"Given that work is the best route out of poverty it beggars belief that the Tory-led Government are hitting families with a squeeze on childcare costs. They should be making it easier for parents to work and pay tax so that we can get the deficit down."
