Vernon Coaker MP, Labour's Shadow Policing Minister,
in response to a study published today in the Daily Telegraph linking police patrols with drops in crime, said:

‪"It's time this Government listened if not to us then to the police, academics, the HMIC, ACPO and the public. We are all telling them to rethink their plans for 20% frontloaded cuts to the police that will lead to 16,000 fewer police officers.

‪"This Government needs to support the police and the fight against crime and not continue to put the safety of our streets and communities at risk."
