Fiona Mactaggart MP, Labour's Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, said in response to today's Written Ministerial Statement:

“By scrapping Labour’s plan to increase transparency in pay the Tory-led Government have set back progress towards equal pay even further.  

“We share their hope that voluntary measures might speed up progress towards equal pay, but without the power to enforce gender pay gap reporting on reluctant employers women who face pay discrimination will not have the information they need to get justice.”
