John Woodcock MP, Labour’s Shadow Roads Minister, responding to the Government's climb-down over plans to hike the Dartford Crossing toll, said:

“Despite backing down on their plan to hike the Dartford Crossing toll by an eye-watering 66%, the Government remains completely out of touch with motorists who all over the country face rising costs. It’s time that Ministers finally listened to Labour’s call for a temporary VAT cut which would immediately knock 3p off a litre of petrol and £1.35 off the average tank of fuel. That is the real help that motorists want to see from the Government at a time when household budgets are under so much pressure”.
