Tessa Jowell MP, Labour’s Shadow Olympics Minister, commenting on research showing that hotel prices during the Olympic Games are on average 300% higher than in December, said:
“These prices are a complete rip-off and it’s just not fair for hotels to take advantage of people with these eye-watering Olympic price-hikes.
“Families need to know that they can come to London for the Olympics and stay here at affordable prices. Tourists from abroad must also not be left with an impression that London is just too expensive to visit in future.
“I urge hoteliers to rethink their rise in rates to encourage more people to come to London during the Olympic and Paralympic Games so that we can make it a Games for everyone to remember.”
