Caroline Flint MP, Labour's Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, commenting on the Energy and Climate Change Committee’s report on Marine Renewables, said:
“The UK leads the world in marine energy and there is huge potential for a thriving wave and tidal industry in this country. But since this Tory-led Government came to power the UK has slipped from third to thirteenth in the world for investment in green growth.
“Marine energy can help make us less reliant on volatile fossil fuel prices and keep energy bills down, cut our carbon emissions and create new jobs and industries in the UK. But we need to move quickly and decisively to cement our advantage and stop this opportunity slipping through our fingers.”
