Stephen Twigg MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, responding to the Ofsted report on Music in schools, said:

“Good quality music teaching is instrumental to a well rounded education, but in too many cases it is not up to scratch.

“The Government should take note of this report, but instead it is scaling back music in schools, and cutting funding by a quarter.

“The Tory-led Government’s EBacc devalues Music GCSE and music teachers are being made redundant because of their decisions.”
