Ivan Lewis MP, Labour’s Shadow International Development Secretary, responding to the announcement that the International Development Select Committee will hold a one-off inquiry into the Global Fund said:

“I am delighted that the International Development Select Committee has announced that is going to hold an inquiry into the Global Fund. The organisation plays is an extremely important role in the fight against HIV/AIDs, TB and Malaria and we should be doing everything we can to support it.

"I hope that the Committee will look in detail at the impact of the freeze on grants to new projects resulting from the disappointing funding pledges of some countries, as well as the reforms the Global Fund is introducing to ensure transparency and anti-corruption practices are improved."
