Simon Danczuk MP, Labour MP for Rochdale, responding to the ruling of the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner John Lyon that Liam Fox must repay £3,000 of parliamentary expenses, said:

“It is right that Dr Fox has been sanctioned but he has still not been forced to answer the many questions which remain about the scandal that led to his resignation.

“He has been let off by a Prime Minister who is not prepared to get to the bottom of the wrongdoing which took place on his watch.

“The Parliamentary Standards Commissioner should now go further and initiate an inquiry into the handling of this case, which thoroughly undermines David Cameron’s commitment to transparent government.”
