Tom Greatrex MP, Labour's Shadow Energy Minister, commenting on reports that the Summit Power Group has entered into an agreement with National Grid and Petrofac to seek funding for the development of a low-carbon power plant in Grangemouth that will use Carbon Capture and Storage technology (CCS), said:
"This potential investment in jobs, skills, and low carbon technology is a welcome step.
"CCS is a vital tool in tackling climate change and the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy.
"We now need the UK Government to provide some clarity on exactly how much and when funding will be available for the development of CCS on a commercial scale.
"What investors want is clarity on funding, not more dither and delay."
