Alison Seabeck MP, Labour's Shadow Defence Minister, responding to the news that the Government favours plans to privatise the procurement arm of the MoD, said:
"The Government appears indecisive and their delay has caused uncertainty across industry.
"On defence decisions involving billions of taxpayer pounds and central to the strength of frontline forces it is vital that there is Ministerial accountability and public transparency.
"We worry these proposals could weaken accountability and Ministers have important questions to answer. We must have evidence to support any decision made and must know who is responsible for delivery of contracts to time and cost.
"The problems we have seen in relation to G4S cannot be repeated when dealing with our Armed Forces.
"Procurement reform is essential to drive savings and efficiency, but Ministers have today ducked important questions."
