Liz Kendall MP, Labour's Shadow Minister for Care and Older People, said following David Cameron's comments about cancer on LBC today:

"David Cameron told listeners that he's increased NHS spending but the truth is he's cut the budget in each of the last two years.

"The Government risks taking its eye off the ball on cancer - the money for Cancer Networks is being cut and new targets proposed last week would see the NHS stop measuring cancer survival rates.

"This Government cannot keep letting patients down and must come clean about the real effect its budget cuts are having on the NHS."
