Clive Efford MP, Labour’s Shadow Sport Minister, responding to the publication of the Government’s Olympic Legacy plan, said:

“The Government has published its Olympic Legacy strategy claiming more will be done to make PE available to all at the same time that head teachers are warning that sport is in danger of being squeezed out of the curriculum under the new exam system that Michael Gove has announced.  This is more evidence that the Government does not have a clearly thought through sports strategy. If we are to inspire the next generation to get into the habit of participating in sport it has to start in schools.”
