Harriet Harman MP, Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, in response to Nick Clegg’s speech to the Liberal Democrat Conference, said:

"Nick Clegg's speech was more pointless rhetoric.

"There's no reason why anyone should believe a word the Lib Dems say.

"The truth is that they have betrayed the people who voted for them and far from being a brake on the Tories, they are their accomplices."
