Gregg McClymont MP, Labour’s Shadow Pensions Minister, commenting on the Scottish Widows report on women and pensions, said:
“Ministers have moved the goalposts on workplace pensions once again – and that means another quarter of a million women miss out.
“Labour designed auto-enrolment to help lower income workers save for the future, but this Government have hollowed out the scheme leaving more than a million out in the cold.
“The pension savings prospects of hundreds of thousands of low paid women are being sacrificed by the Tory-led Government to meet the anecdote only analysis of Beecroft.
"This is particularly regretful in the light of Scottish Widow’s finding that when women take part in pensions saving, most will keep saving even under financial pressure.”
