Huw Irranca-Davies MP, Labour’s Shadow Farming Minister, responding to reports in The Guardian about the latest Gangmasters Licensing Authority investigation, commented:
"These are truly shocking allegations of exploitation, human trafficking, debt-bondage and assault. The Gangmasters Licensing Authority and Kent Police should be commended for pursuing the case. It is right that the Gangmaster has already had his licence revoked.
"There is no place for human trafficking in any part of our economy. The case demonstrates the vital role that the GLA plays in targeting abuses of often low-paid workers."
