David Hanson MP, Labour's Shadow Policing Minister, commenting on the shambolic way in which the Police and Crime Commissioner (Welsh Forms) Order has been dealt with, said:
"This is another example of the shambolic way in which this Government has organised the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections.
"The Electoral Commission is clear that all rules relating to any elections should be clear at least six months in advance – and yet this Order is being debated just 48 hours before postal ballots are due to be despatched.
"The Government’s incompetence is costing taxpayers an additional £350,000 because Welsh authorities, unsure if the legislation would be in place, have printed up both bilingual and English only papers. As a result hundreds of thousands of ballot papers will be thrown away before the election."<div>
