Stephen Twigg MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on the 36 per cent leap in GCSE and A-level exam papers being remarked, said:

“These figures show the utter exam fiasco that Michael Gove has presided over. This Government is totally incompetent and out of touch.

“English exams have had the most requests for re-marking, as the GCSE shambles rumbles on, with some parents having to go to court. Michael Gove needs to order a full, independent inquiry into this mess, and ensure young people are not held back.”
