Liz Kendall MP, Labour's Shadow Minister for Care and Older People, in response to today's survey from Age UK and the College of Social Work, said:
"These findings from social workers on the frontline of Britain's care system make for very worrying reading.
"More and more older people are paying the price as over £1.3bn has been cut from local council care budgets. Care workers are getting less time to spend with vulnerable people, putting the quality of care at risk.
"This survey shares Labour's concerns that too many are left with no option but to be admitted to hospital, putting extra pressure on an already strained NHS and costing the taxpayer more too.
"In the century of the ageing society, the Government cannot keep ignoring a funding crisis that's driving our care services to breaking point. In this week's Autumn statement, the Government should face up to that challenge - our older people deserve far better."
