Stephen Twigg MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on the start of the judicial review hearing into the GCSE English grades, said:  

"It is ludicrous that students and teachers have been forced to go to the High Court in order to get the grades they deserve. This is a complete fiasco.  

"Michael Gove has held back young people’s ambitions – he is incompetent and out of touch. He should have sorted this mess out months ago – with a regrade of exams and a full, independent inquiry."
