Kevin Brennan MP, Labour's Shadow Schools Minister, responding to today's YouGov survey revealing the crisis in teacher morale, said:
"We know that great teachers make the difference when it comes to raising standards in our schools. Supporting and improving the quality of the teaching profession should be a priority for David Cameron. Instead, as today's survey finds, teacher morale is being seriously undermined by his Government, putting education standards at risk.
"That over 80% of teachers said that the proposed changes to exams at 16 are being rushed adds further weight to concerns expressed last year by the CBI when it called for a pause in the Government's timetable.
"These findings, taken with the fact that 10,000 teachers have left the profession since the last General Election, are a real indictment of this Government's education policies.
"Parents will rightly be concerned that teachers are so demoralised and worried about the future of their schools."
