Stephen Twigg MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on changes to school funding which could see small schools close down, said:
“Small schools are part of the fabric of our society – particularly in rural areas. But the Tory-led Government are threatening the future of smaller schools through its funding changes.
“Now the Church of England have added their voices to local government leaders and small schools themselves to warn that schools with fewer than 200 pupils could be at risk of closure.
“Ministers must explain what is going on as parents will be extremely worried about the future of their local school."
