Stephen Twigg MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, commenting on the National Audit Office report showing the Government must provide an extra 256,000 school places by 2014/15, said:
"This Government is making the school places crisis worse. Many parents can't get their child into the local primary school they want.
"David Cameron and George Osborne have cut capital funding by 58 per cent and Michael Gove has wasted £1 billion on mismanaging the academies programme.
"Their free school programme is setting up schools in areas which already have enough places. Instead of dogma the Government needs to look at the evidence of where new schools are most needed."<div>
