Douglas Alexander MP, Labour's Shadow Foreign Secretary, responding to the reported Saudi court sentencing of a man to paralysis, said:

“The reported ruling by a court in Saudi Arabia which has sentenced a man to be paralysed should be condemned unequivocally by Britain.

“Such punishment is prohibited under international law and would be an appalling act for court authorities to enforce.

"I urge the UK Government to make urgent representations to the Saudi Arabian authorities.”
