Sharon Hodgson MP, Labour’s Shadow Children and Families Minister, responding to reported shortages in nursery places, said:
“The childcare crisis created by David Cameron just gets worse. Parents who were promised free childcare will be shocked to learn that ministers have failed to ensure enough nursery places are available.
“With childcare costs rising under this Government, families hit by up to £1560 in cuts per year to childcare tax credits, standards and safety at risk through plans to increase the number of children per childminder, cuts to Sure Start and no plans to support parents with costs until after the next general election, David Cameron is once again letting working families down. He needs to act now before another promise to parents is broken.”
