Ivan Lewis MP, Labour’s Shadow International Development Secretary, commenting on David Cameron not attending the launch of the final report from the UN High Level Panel to the UN Secretary General on the post-2015 Agenda today, despite being one of three co-chairs, said:

"What should have been a prestigious opportunity for Britain to show leadership on the world stage has been squandered by the Prime Minister. Initially, the Tory-led Government caused widespread anger amongst developing countries by leaking Cameron’s appointment in advance of it being confirmed by the UN Secretary General. Then he failed to turn up at one out of the three panel meetings he had agreed to co-chair. Now he’s not even attending the launch of the High Level panel's final report.

“Cameron's lack of commitment and leadership will tarnish Britain’s global reputation and stands in stark contrast to Labour’s legacy on international development.”
