Sadiq Khan MP, Labour's Shadow Justice Secretary, said in response to reports that young and vulnerable victims are to be offered the chance to pre-record evidence for criminal trials:
"Labour supports action to help protect young and vulnerable witnesses in the criminal justice system. Without victims coming forward many criminals would never be brought to justice. We need to do all we can to prioritise the needs of victims and witnesses at every stage if we are to maintain the public's confidence in our criminal justice system.
"That's why Labour is committed to go further than this Government by introducing a victims law, placing in legislation what victims and witnesses should expect out of our courts and prosecution services."
