Sharon Hodgson MP, Labour’s Shadow Children and Families Minister, ahead of the expected publication of Government plans on childcare, said:
“After three years of rising costs, falling places and support for families being slashed, Ministers still don’t have a credible plan to help families with childcare. Parents will feel let down that it’s taken 13 months to come up with a set of proposals which won’t tackle David Cameron’s childcare crisis.
“After her big idea to cram more toddlers into the same nurseries had to be dropped, Liz Truss has had to resort to stealing Labour ideas from 2005. 99 per cent of schools were delivering the Extended Schools core offer of wraparound childcare and family support in 2010, but this Government abolished the funding and removed the guarantee for parents.
“David Cameron said his Government would be the most family-friendly ever, but this government has prioritised tax cuts for millionaires over helping parents with childcare.”<div>
