Catherine McKinnell MP, Labour’s Shadow Treasury Minister, commenting on the Governor of the Bank of England’s remarks about the lack of women members on the Monetary Policy Committee, said:
“Mark Carney is absolutely right to criticise the lack of women on the MPC. The Chancellor is responsible for appointments, but shockingly there have been no women on the MPC since June 2010. And to make matters worse there are currently no women Ministers in the Treasury either. It’s no wonder this government is so out of touch. This is an appalling state of affairs which George Osborne should put right.”
