John Healey MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Secretary responding to David Cameron's speech today, highlighted the Conservatives' record of broken promises on the NHS:

"It's time David Cameron started keeping his promises on the NHS, instead of breaking them and making a high-cost, high-risk reorganisation that will put further pressure on the health service.

"This isn’t just the wrong change at the wrong time – it’s a change the Conservatives promised they wouldn’t make. It's no wonder David Cameron is on the defensive when all the experts are telling him to change course. He isn’t going to convince them to back his plans by calling the service they work in ‘second rate’.”
